Privacy Policy
How we collect, use, store and protect your personal information.
Last updated: 11 July 2026
Longford Legal (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
What information we collect
We collect personal information that is reasonably necessary to provide our legal services and to respond to your enquiries. This may include:
- Your name, email address, telephone number and (where provided) your company name;
- Details of the dispute or matter you contact us about, including the nature of the conflict, the parties involved and the outcome you are seeking;
- Any other information you choose to provide to us by email, telephone, or through the enquiry form on this website.
You do not have to provide your personal information to us. However, if you choose not to, we may be unable to respond to your enquiry or act for you.
How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you, for example, when you complete the consultation enquiry form on this website, send us an email, or speak with us by telephone. Where lawful and practicable, you may deal with us anonymously or using a pseudonym, although this may limit the assistance we can provide.
How we use your information
We use the personal information we collect to:
- Respond to your enquiry and arrange a consultation;
- Provide legal advice and representation, and carry out related administrative functions;
- Comply with our professional, legal and regulatory obligations.
We will only use your information for the purpose for which it was collected, a directly related purpose you would reasonably expect, or as otherwise permitted or required by law.
Disclosure of your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose it where necessary to respond to your enquiry or provide our services, or where required or authorised by law. Recipients may include courts and tribunals, barristers, experts and other professional advisers, government and regulatory bodies, and service providers that support our website, communications, document management and enquiry handling.
Some service providers may process or store information outside Australia. Where the Australian Privacy Principles require it, we take reasonable steps to ensure an overseas recipient handles personal information consistently with those principles, subject to any applicable exception.
Confidentiality and legal professional privilege
Where we act for you, communications between us are generally protected by legal professional privilege and our professional duty of confidentiality, in addition to the protections under this policy.
Security and storage
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. When information is no longer needed and we are not required to retain it, we take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it.
Cookies and this website
This website may collect limited technical information through ordinary server logs, such as an IP address, browser type, requested page and access time. The enquiry form transmits the details you submit through our website hosting and enquiry-processing services so that we can respond. This website does not require you to create an account.
Submitting an enquiry does not by itself create a solicitor-client relationship. Please do not send original documents through the website form.
Accessing and correcting your information
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete or misleading. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
Complaints
If you believe we have breached the Australian Privacy Principles, please contact us using the details below and we will investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au.
